The following I tried in Windows XP Pro.Not sure about any other OS. May not work in a non Windows OS.

To unlock Idea NetSetter 3g (Huawei E1550) what I did is, from the site http://a-zgsm.com/huawei.php I found the flash code for my H3G using its unique IMEI number.

After that, I downloaded a firmware update(downdate to be frank, because the version I downloaded was a lower version compared to the original Idea given firmware)   from this rapidshare link. Final step was to use this file to update my firmware! That means, insert the modem to PC, wait for Windows to recognize the device,  run the downloaded exe file.  My H3G now accepts whatever simcard I insert.

You can also use this modem to make voice telephone calls! This Mobile Partner software enables voice calling facility on this H3G modem. After updating,insert a sim to the modem, connect it to a pc which has both speaker and microphone,  and dial using the Mobile Partner software. When the mobile partner software is running, you can receive voice calls also.
